A ledger you own,
not a subscription you rent.
compta keeps your books in plain-text Beancount, versioned in git, rendered by a real UI. Every number traces to a line you can read, revert, and diff. Multi-entity by design: French SASUs, a Hong Kong limited company, and personal books in one place.
Why
Your data is a file
No vendor lock-in, no export ceremony. The ledger is a directory of text files you can read with cat, back up with rsync, and audit line by line.
Every change is a commit
Who changed what, when, and why - with a diff and a one-command revert. Traceability is not a feature flag, it is the storage model.
Multi-jurisdiction, one view
FR, HK and US charts of accounts coexist. Each entity keeps its own books and currency; the group view reconciles them without merging them.
How it works
Beancount in
Any Beancount tree loads as-is: includes, cost basis, price conversions, balance assertions. Verified against the reference implementation, account by account.
Parity gate
Every book is recomputed twice and compared to the cent. A mismatch fails the build, so a rendering bug can never silently change a number.
Trial balance
Accounts, balances and journal in one screen, per entity or consolidated. Fast enough to open on a phone during a call.
